Tis the Season: Transforming Your Wedding Reception into a Winter Wonderland
Wedding decor is a big part of the overall wedding theme that you have chosen for your big day. You need to be able to choose the right decorations that will suit your style and personality.
If you are planning to have a Christmas wedding reception, you can use some of these ideas to decorate the room:
- A Christmas tree is one of the most popular Christmas decorations used to decorate homes during this festive season. It adds a touch of festivity and fun to any party or function that uses it as part of its decoration scheme. You can use this decoration idea for your wedding reception too.
- Hanging stars are yet another popular option for decorating your wedding reception venue during this festive season. Hang them from ceilings or walls and let them shine brightly. The effect will be beautiful.
- Another way to decorate your reception hall for Christmas is with strings of Christmas lights. Hang them from the ceiling or around the room’s perimeter, or put them on top of each wall sconce or chandelier. You can also use them in small clusters as table centerpieces at each guest’s table if you don’t have enough space for a full-size tree at every seat.
- Add some sparkle with silver tinsel and gold stars.
- Use garlands of twinkly lights to create a beautiful backdrop for your cake table or dessert buffet table.
- Create a rustic look with pine cones, fairy lights and wooden stars to hang from the ceiling or around your venue’s walls, such as at The Old Courthouse in Lancaster or The Old Town Hall in York.
- Use poinsettia plants as table centerpieces and/or scatter them throughout the room.
- Use a large tree branch as a backdrop for the cake table (or anywhere else you want to add greenery).
- Create an ice sculpture of Santa Claus or another Christmas icon.
- Decorate with snowflakes, stars, and other winter-themed stickers and decals.
- If you have a band or DJ playing at your reception, ask them to play holiday music during their breaks so guests can sing along while they’re waiting for dinner or dancing.
- The use of wreaths and garlands is one of the most popular ways to decorate your venue for Christmas. These can be hung up around doorways or placed on mantelpieces, windowsills and tables throughout your venue. You may want to keep them fresh with fresh flowers every few days.
- A large tree or several smaller ones can be used as centerpieces at different points in your venue, such as at each table or at the entrance to the hall. They can also be used as a focal point for displays.
- You could create displays by layering different types of baubles, lights and other decorations on top of each other to create an interesting effect.
- Snowflakes are another classic way to add some seasonal flair without being too over-the-top about it. They look great hanging from ceilings or walls and can be used as decorations on tables or mantles throughout your venue space.
